Now that you’ve decided to try for a baby, before contacting a gynaecologist we suggest that you tick these things off your to-do list for a worry-free pregnancy.
Congratulations on your decision to have a baby, but before you get carried away by everything pregnancy related, make sure that the list of things we’re about to mention below are taken care of.
Review Your Medicine
Some medications can be harmful to your baby so tell your doctor about the pills or medication that you’re taking so that he can tell you which you should avoid or replace.
Up Your Folic Acid Intake
This important vitamin B offers an umbrella of protection. It lowers the risk of birth defects such as spina bifida which forms very early in the foetus. Your doctor will advice you to take a lot of spinach and other leafy greens to make sure that you get enough of it.
Being over or underweight can affect your pregbabct. Being underweight can affect ovulation while being overweight can put you at risk of high blood pressure and diabetes, and being the right weight also means you will be in better shape after the baby comes.
Visit The Dentist
How long have you been putting off your visit to the dentist? Well it’s time you haul yourself there. Bad oral health can put you at risk of bacterial infections which can lead to preeclampsia.
Get all your renovations out of the way before you start working on making a baby. Some paint, furniture polish, pesticides and harsh cleaners contain chemicals that have been linked to birth defects. The fumes are poisonous so get on it now before the baby gets in the way. So go on and settle everything that needs to be taken care of now before you start making a baby.
